ISA Halal: Globally Accredited & Locally Trusted

A Legacy of Halal Excellence Since 1975

Since its founding in 1975 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Islamic Services of America (ISA) has stood as one of the nation’s oldest and most respected Halal certification organizations. For over five decades, ISA has been a symbol of trust, integrity, and innovation, helping businesses and consumers navigate the global Halal marketplace with confidence. Today, ISA is internationally recognized for shaping Halal standards, compliance, and outreach across multiple continents.

Global Accreditations and Recognition

ISA’s authority in the Halal industry is reinforced by prestigious accreditations and partnerships worldwide. It is a founding member of the World Halal Food Council (WHFC) since 2011 and officially recognized by leading Halal authorities, including:

Expanding Global Influence

ISA’s leadership in the Halal sector was strengthened in May 2025 when it signed a landmark Letter of Intent (LOI) with Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH). The agreement, signed at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, D.C., created a framework for collaboration and mutual recognition between the two organizations. Indonesia, being the world’s largest Halal consumer market, represents a tremendous opportunity for U.S. producers.

“This collaboration with BPJPH marks a significant milestone in our mission as an industry leader in the global Halal market,” said Jalel Aossey, ISA President.

“Halal industry development has contributed significantly to creating jobs in Indonesia, and we believe this Halal collaboration could also extend its value and benefits to the American people and the U.S. economy,” said Dr. Haikal Hasan, head of BPJPH who believes this agreement will create jobs in Indonesia and could offer similar benefits in the United States.

The partnership supports the certification and export of U.S. agricultural goods—particularly beef—into Indonesia’s thriving Halal economy. It also aligns with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers First initiative, which strengthens rural infrastructure and supports small and mid-sized farms. In turn, it fosters job creation and economic growth both in Indonesia and the United States.

Serving Diverse Sectors

ISA’s Halal certification spans a wide range of industries, including:

  • Meat and poultry
  • Food and beverages
  • Nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals
  • Cosmetics and personal care
  • Industrial ingredients and raw materials

ISA’s expertise lies in bridging U.S. manufacturing standards with global Halal requirements, ensuring smooth market access for American producers.
